JAL JEEVAN MISSION WORKS REVIEWED BY CHIEF SECRETARY, DIRECTS TIMELY AND QUALITY COMPLETION

Balod, August 20, 2026:

Chief Secretary Shri Vikasheel held a virtual meeting with Collectors and senior officials across Chhattisgarh to review the progress of ongoing works under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

HE DIRECTED OFFICIALS TO COMPLETE ALL JAL JEEVAN MISSION WORKS WITHIN THE STIPULATED TIMEFRAME AND ENSURE THAT THE WORK IS CARRIED OUT WITH PROPER QUALITY STANDARDS.

During the meeting, the Chief Secretary reviewed the action taken on the follow-up report of the meeting held on July 23, 2026. He also assessed the status of payments for completed and handed-over schemes, progress of solar pump-based schemes and schemes facing source-related problems.
The status of districts under the Har Ghar Jal initiative was also discussed.

The Chief Secretary reviewed the regular monthly meetings of District Water and Sanitation Committees and sought updated information regarding their functioning.

SPECIAL FOCUS WAS GIVEN TO SCHEMES WHERE WATER SUPPLY IS BELOW 55 LITRES PER CAPITA PER DAY (LPCD) OR WHERE WATER IS NOT BEING SUPPLIED FOR SEVEN DAYS A WEEK.

Officials were directed to identify the reasons for inadequate water supply in such schemes and take corrective measures on priority.

The Chief Secretary emphasized that the objective should be not only to complete the projects on time but also to ensure sustainable and reliable drinking water supply to rural households.
During the virtual meeting,

Collector Smt. Divya Umesh Mishra, Public Health Engineering Department Executive Engineer Shri Sagar Verma, Chief Executive Officers of Janpad Panchayats and other concerned officials were present in the NIC room of the Joint District Office, Balod.
